MA ACCESS TO JUSTICE COMMISSION UPDATE

The Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission announces the following three appointments.
Superior Court Judge Valerie Yarashus and Attorney J. D. Smeallie join as new members of the Commission. Before her appointment to the bench in October 2018, Judge Yarashus was a principal at Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow, P.C. She has also served as a president of both the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. Attorney J.D. Smeallie is a litigation partner at Holland & Knight. He is a former President of the Boston Bar Association and will serve as the BBA’s representative on the Commission.
Additionally, the Commission has named Attorney Carolyn Goodwin as its Director, effective August 5, 2019. As Director, Attorney Goodwin will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and overseeing key operational functions for the Commission in consultation with its co-chairs. She joins the Commission from Boston University School of Law, where she most recently served as Director of Public Service and Pro Bono.
